HUW GRIFFITHS has conceded that Cefn Druids will have to “shut up and get on with it” after failing to move their Newfa Challenge Cup semi-final with Corwen.

With Nathan Peate away representing Wales C against England C in Salford, Griffiths and a group of Druids’ players were eager to make the short trip to the Peninsula Stadium on Tuesday night.

But efforts to move the last four cup clash from Tuesday have come to nothing, and rather than cheer on their team-mate, Druids will be battling it out with Corwen at Bala’s Maes Tegid.

“I’m not happy,” declared Griffiths. “Nathan Peate is representing Wales C and we’ve got no option of watching him.

“We offered Corwen four or five alternative dates, but they wouldn’t move the fixture, which is really disappointing.

“I’m a bit upset over the whole incident. I’d loved to have gone to Salford, which is only an hour away, to watch Nathan in action.

“The North East Wales FA have raised the issue with Corwen, but nothing has been done so we will have to get on with it.”

Gresford await the winners of tonight’s tie after they battled back from 2-0 down to beat Saltney Town 3-2.

Griffiths added: “It would be great to get through the fixture and, on paper, we should do, but it’s a cup tie.”

Experienced defender Neil Ashton is doubtful for Druids, who should have midfielder Alec Mudimu available before he heads off to represent Zimbabwe in their African Cup of Nations qualifier against Congo on Sunday.
