JAKE PHILLIPS and Nathan Peate have been selected to represent Wales C in the clash with rivals England.

Phillips, son of former Wrexham stalwart Waynne, has caught the eye in Connah's Quay Nomads' treble bid since returning from a loan spell at Bangor City, while Peate has been a reassuring presence in the heart of the Cefn Druids' defence this term.

"Made up to be selected. Looking forward to the experience," tweeted Phillips, who was praised by Nomads boss Andy Morrison, who said: "Jake has been great since he returned from Bangor and has trained and played well in the few weeks he has been back.

"I'm delighted for the lad and it will be a great experience that I am sure he will embrace."

Peate also earned the praise of his club boss, Huw Griffiths, who was delighted to see his central defender picked after being disappointed with his absence from last year's squad.

Griffiths said: "Nathan deserves to have been picked, he's a player of good quality and I'm interested to see what he's capable of.

"I'm sure he will take the opportunity to impress, and now he's been recognised it's about getting in the squad year in, year out.

"Nathan has a fantastic work ethic, he does a lot of work away from Cefn Druids Football Club on his game, and I'm really pleased for him."

Barry Town United have five players in Mark Jones' 21-man squad for the match at Salford City’s Peninsula Stadium on Tuesday, March 19 with Chris Hugh, Kayne McLaggon, Jordan Cotterill, Robbie Patten and Clayton Green selected.

There are four players from Cardiff Met in the shape of Adam Roscrow, Eliot Evans, Emlyn Lewis and Joel Edwards, while Bala are represented by the trio of Ashley Morris, Chris Venables and Henry Jones.

Caernarfon duo Alex Ramsey and Danny Brookwell have caught the eye on the club's promotion to the top-flight, The New Saints' Aeron Edwards and Kai Edwards of Llandudno return having played in last year's 3-2 defeat, while Newtown's Callum Roberts, Aberystwyth's Matthew Jones and Liam Thomas of Carmarthen complete the squad.

Boss Jones said: "It's been a difficult decision to pick players because the standard of the Welsh Premier League seems to be increasing every year.

"It's hard to get in the Wales squad, but I've picked one to hopefully beat England because it means that much to us."

Supporters can pay on the turnstiles at the stadium on the night of the game with tickets costing £10 for adults, £5 for concessions (U16 and over 60) with U5s going free.
