How good were the two Ronnies, eh? Brilliant, some might say. Well, lets hope we’ll be saying the same about the two Bryans in 10 games’ time.

It’s now or maybe never for Wrexham as the finishing line starts to come into view.

It’s been quite a turnaround since Bryan Hughes took over. People were telling me that he had no experience, but I said, ‘Yes, but look at where Dean Keates and Sam Ricketts are now, and they had none either’.

Wrexham certainly needed a lift, and with four victories and a last-gasp draw at Gateshead, Hughes has certainly given them that. That point at Gateshead could prove crucial come the end of the season, and it shows that the players have a never-say-die attitude.

Hughes’ team had to show their mettle with three away games in eight days with all their travelling, but returning to the Racecourse with seven points from three games, it has definitely been worth it.

For sure, Hughes himself was a silky smooth, creative player with an eye for goal, but his team needs grit and determination in this league, and it looks as though he’s getting the right reaction from his players.

Being able to pick the brains of Brian Flynn at this stage of the season can only be a great help to Hughes too.

Flynn’s experience will be invaluable, and he will be someone for Hughes to lean on when there are difficult decisions to be made.

Just look at how Lenny Lawrence has helped Mike Flynn at Newport County.

Two points clear at the top, with two out of the next three games to be played at The Racecourse, is an ideal place for them to be at the moment. Wrexham can really take advantage this month and use it to create some distance between themselves and the rest.

Come on the Dragons, it’s there for you!

TWENTY miles down the road and Connah’s Quay Nomads are making a name for themselves by creating history.

Nomads are already into the Scottish Challenge Cup final and the last four of the Welsh Cup, which they hold after winning it for the first time ever last season.

But the big one beckons. They are six games away from potentially winning the Welsh Premier League for the first time ever.

Can they do it? Yes they can! (I was going to start singing then!)

Andy Morrison’s men are battle-hardened, just like him, and when the going gets tough (another song!), the Nomads get going.

Morrison has put Connah’s Quay firmly on the map and created miracles.

If you asked him right now if he’d take a guaranteed double, I know what his answer would be: ‘No, I want the treble!’ That would be truly amazing.

Personally, I would take a Welsh Premier League and Scottish Challenge Cup double, but Andy will just be taking things one game at a time.

But that’s the challenge for every team fighting for something at this stage of the season. How do you deal with the nerves and expectation?
