HUW GRIFFITHS insists that Cefn Druids are 'in it to win it' as they prepare for Tuesday night's Newfa Challenge Cup quarter-final home tie with Brymbo.

The Ancients eased their Welsh Premier League relegation worries with a much-needed 3-1 home win over Aberystwyth, and attentions have now turned to lifting some silverware.

Druids brushed aside Cymru Alliance outfit Ruthin Town 11-2 in the last round, with Welsh National League Premier Division promotion favourites Brymbo next up.

Boss Griffiths said: "We are in the quarter-finals and we are in the competition to win it.

"We've got a home tie and we know if we manage to beat Brymbo then we will face Corwen in the semi-finals and then either Saltney or Gresford in the final.

"If we do things right then we should win the game."

Griffiths will rotate his players for the visit of Brymbo, but that does not mean that Druids will be fielding a below-par starting XI.

"We beat Ruthin comfortably and the squad I have now is miles better than it was then," continued Griffiths.

"Players like Alec Mudimu haven't played in a while and he will benefit from some game time, along with a few others.

"Fisnik (Hajdari), Niki-Lee (Bulmer) and Alun Morris all didn't feature against Aberystwyth, so they could be involved as well." Jack Kenny and James Davies are doubtful for the tie through injury, while recent signings Danny Gossett and John Owen could miss out.

Neil Ashton is not expected to feature, while Nathan Peate sits out the final game of his three-match ban after being dismissed against Llanelli.

Griffiths added: "We will put out a number of first team players with a couple of the younger lads, like we did against Ruthin.

"We will look at who is fit enough to play and who isn't, but it's a game we want to win."

Cefn Albion, meanwhile, will play their Welsh Trophy semi-final against STM Sports at Newtown's Latham Park.

The two teams will go head-to-head on Saturday, March 16 with the victors facing either Pontardawe - last eight winners against Plas Madoc - or Bodedern in the final of the competition.
