THERE was a Welsh National League victory hat-trick as Cefn Albion, Plas Madoc and Corwen progressed to the Welsh Trophy quarter-finals.

Cefn Albion were worthy 3-0 winners against Bow Street, while Plas Madog beat Berriew by the odd-goal in five and Corwen cruised to a 6-1 success over Pwllheli.

All of Cefn's goals came in the first-half as Jimmy Jones, Conner Kendrick and 17-year-old Zac Davies found the net.

Bow Street did their best to get a foothold in the contest, but Cefn held firm to progress to the last eight, the draw for which will take place on Monday.

The Albion management team of Stephen Davies and Sean Jones were ecstatic, Jones saying: "Jimmy broke the deadlock after just six minutes and from then on we never looked back. The visitors had us second best after the interval and it was all Bow, but with some resolute defending we saw the game out.”

There was late drama at Plas Madoc, who bagged a late winner courtesy of Nicky Williams' last minute free-kick.

Joe Haycock had given Berriew an early lead, but that was cancelled out by a header from Jamie Williams, before Nicky Williams won, and then converted, a penalty after the interval.

Some sloppy defending saw Rhys Rowlands level for Berries, but Nicky Williams sent the home fans wild with his impressive last gasp winner.

Manager Ryan Roberts said: “Our lads battled from start to finish. It was an amazing performance and I am proud as punch.

"The belief I have in these boys is unreal. We are now in last eight and the lowest ranked team left in it but, I guarantee nobody will want to play us at The MUGA.

"I am so proud of everyone involved with this amazing club.”

Corwen, watched by Wales ace Harry Wilson, had to come from behind as they cruised to victory over Pwllheli.

Gareth Jones gave Pwllheli the lead, and when Joe Williams missed a penalty, Corwen might have feared the worst.

But a hat-trick from Dale Davies and goals from Ryan Billington, Sam Henry and Williams secured victory.
