CEFN DRUIDS ace Alec Mudimu has been called up to represent Zimbabwe in this month's Four Nations Tournament.

Mudimu, 22, has been hugely impressive since signing for the Ancients in pre-season, going on to score six goals in 23 appearances as Huw Griffiths' men secured a top six Welsh Premier League finish.

The midfielder's performances have not gone without notice with Mudimu undergoing trials at Football League duo Fleetwood and Rochdale since December.

And that interest, coupled with a number of impressive performances for Druids have persuaded Zimbabwe head coach Sunday Chidzambwa to call on Mudimu.

Zimbabwe will face host nation Zambia on Thursday, March 22 before tackling either Angola or South Africa depending on results, on Sunday, March 25.

Druids boss Griffiths, who will be without Mudimu for the trip to The New Saints as a result of his selection, said: "It's great for Alec, who has been great for us.

"We've got Naim Arsan in the Wales C squad and Alec in the Zimbabwe national team, so it's great for the two players and great for Cefn Druids Football Club.

"It shows that we are doing something right at Cefn Druids."

Arsan, who is included in the Wales C squad for the clash with counterparts England on Tuesday, March 20 at Jenner Park, was delighted for his team mate.

"It is great news, I imagine it’s a dream come true and I wish him all the best," said Arsan. "He is really good, strong and powerful midfielder and has scored some important goals for us this year.

"I don’t see why he can’t (play in the Football League) as he is still only young and still has more time to learn."
