Liverpool Competition weekend previews

The Flintshire outfit have recorded three successive league wins to climb to fifth in the table, 47 points adrift of table-topping Newton-le-Willows.

Hall have also secured a Ray Tyler Cup semi-final in recent weeks, and captain Barnes is ready for the challenge that the leaders represent.

"The game comes at the perfect time for us," said Barnes. "We are in some good form, and although we will take nothing for granted, we are going there to win."

Newton-le-Willows are also in good form having climbed to the summit, but Hall have previous of denting title bids this season after beating then-leaders Rainford by one-wicket three weeks ago.

"We are in-form," continued Barnes, who saw Hall beaten by 18 runs at Smithy Lane by Newton-le-Willows. "If we do win again then we will be looking up.

"We've been competitive all season, but we couldn't get the wins we wanted earlier in the season.

"We should have beaten them at our place, so it will be nice to put that right."

Key to Hall's victory chances are spin duo Enamul Haque and James Hurlin.

The duo shared all 10 wickets in last week's 97-run success over Fleetwood Hesketh, former Bangladesh international Haque taking his tally to 39 with Hurlin on 36.

"They complement each other so well," said Barnes of the right-arm/left-arm combination.

"James has been opening and keeping things really tight, while Enamul has been coming on and creating more pressure.

"They are bowling well in tandem with their different angles and they are quietly competitive which helps bring the best out of them both."

Alastair Andrady and Carwyn Johnson return to boost Hall, who remain without Jac Kennedy and Ben Slater due to finger injuries.

Hall Seconds have a league and cup double-header this weekend. A home game with Fleetwood Hesketh Seconds tomorrow is followed by a Tittershill Cup clash at Old Xaverians Seconds on Sunday.

The third XI are in action tomorrow as they make their way to Caldy Thirds.
