JAMIE HODGSON and Enamul Haque were Northop Hall’s match-winners in a 91-run thrashing of Wavertree in Division Two of the Liverpool Competition.

Hodgson rescued Hall’s innings with an unbeaten 81, hitting 11 fours and two sixes in his 108-ball stint at the crease.

Skipper Michael Barnes had earlier hit 30 while Ben Slater’s 34 helped push Hall past the 200 mark as they ended on 223 for nine.

Hall’s pro Haque then took centre stage with the ball, taking 5-22 as Wavertree were dismissed for 132. James Hurlin also played his part with 3-53.

Hall made it two wins after another triumph in the Seconds XI Division Two.

Liam Evans-Ford starred with the ball, taking 3-6 as Burscough were bowled out for 173.

Opener Adam Littler responded with 60 and Alastair Andrady added 36 as Hall made it to 176 for five to stay in second place behind leaders, Leigh.

In Division Two of the Shropshire League, Chirk are setting themselves up for a title push after another convincing win.

After ditching the North Wales League, Chirk are enjoying life across the border after a 142-run win at Forton moved them into second place, 27 points behind leaders, Wellington Seconds.

Opener Gareth Partridge (pictured right) top scored with 54 as Chirk posted 227.

Captain Andy Swarbrick hit 51 and Nick Flack added 44 and the same duo also took two wickets apiece as the hosts were bowled out for 85.

The pick of the Chirk bowlers was Billy Swarbrick, who finished with figures of 3-22.
