BRYMBO SECONDS clawed back some of the points they’ve had to forfeit with a comprehensive 80-run Division Two home win over Corwen.

The Wrexham-based outfit have found the going tough this season, a player shortage leading to three matches being conceded and 45 points deducted as a result.

But Brymbo were able to win back 14 of them against Corwen, who were forced to watch the hosts post 178 for seven from their 45 overs.

Opener Adam Smith was the star for Brymbo as he struck 82 at the top of the order, despite 3-30 from Daniel Jones, before Corwen were bowled out for 98 in reply.

Terry Jones (3-31) was the pick of the bowlers as Brymbo impressed.

Andrew Savage struck a century as Bangor Seconds (228-7) recorded an 111-run win at Menai Bridge Seconds (117) to climb to the top of the table.

Dave North pocketed 6-12 as St Asaph Seconds (70-3) overcame Pwllheli Seconds (69) by seven wickets in the only Division Three game to beat the weather.

It was a tough day at the office for Marchwiel and Wrexham Seconds as they were beaten by nine wickets inside 45 overs by Llangollen in Division Four.

Things went spectacularly wrong after Marchwiel won the toss and elected to bat, the Wrexham outfit dismissed for 56, extras top scoring with 13 as no player passed seven.

Gethin Williams picked up 4-13 for Llangollen, who needed 62 balls to ease to 57 for one, Tom King finishing 31 not out.

Nine-man Halkyn Seconds also came unstuck as they were beaten by 39 runs at the hands of Dolgellau Seconds.

Ranajoy Dey (3-23) and Mason Andrews (2-22) impressed with the ball for Halkyn, but Dolgellau were able to post 162 for eight, James Bradbury-Willis hitting a fine 52.

In reply, Ciaran Sweeney struck 46 at number three, although he lacked support from elsewhere and Halkyn were dismissed for 123.

Jason Parry bagged 5-14 as Caernarfon (43-6) secured a low scoring three-wicket win at Rhewl (42), while Ruthin Seconds (56-3) defeated Llanrwst Seconds (54) by seven wickets.

In the Sunday East Division, Buckley Thirds secured an 128-run success over hosts Brymbo Thirds.

Jack Massey (73) and Rocco Franco (72) were in the runs for Buckley as they posted 208 for five from 40 overs.

Nathan Barton (4-14), Jack Williams (3-7) and Danny Peover (2-8) then combined to bowl Brymbo out for just 80, opener Andrew Evans top scoring for his side with 32.

Gwersyllt Park Thirds were also victorious as they defeated Connah’s Quay Thirds by six wickets.

Ben Griffiths pocketed 5-13 as Quay were bowled out for 130, Rhys Stout (47) and Matthew Dix (42 not out) in the runs.

Stout then picked up 2-4, but Gwersyllt were able to reach 133 for four courtesy of Alfie Lythgoe’s 46 and an unbeaten 38 from Ethan McCarthy.
