BUCKLEY are the early Division Two pacesetters after they ruthlessly defeated eight-man Corwen by nine wickets.

Louis Parry was the star of the show for Buckley as he bagged 5-15 and with Joseph Norman taking 2-12, a depleted Corwen were rolled out for 42.

Joel Sampson then struck an unbeaten 21 as Buckley needed just eight overs to cross the finishing line.

Halkyn are up and running in impressive fashion courtesy of a 39-run success at Marchwiel and Wrexham.

Opening duo Ben Roberts (54) and Simon Penney (50) were in the runs for Halkyn, putting on 87 for the first wicket, before Alex North chipped in with 23 as the visiting side posted 178 for six.

Nick Husbands was a thorn in the Halkyn side, but he lacked support as Marchwiel finished on 139 for eight, the top order batsman hitting an unbeaten 74, despite Ben Roberts' 3-19 and Graeme Settle's 2-32.

Ross Willets and Alex Morton pocketed three wickets apiece as Gresford Seconds' secured a seven-wicket success against Menai Bridge Seconds.

Willets (3-13) and Morton (3-28) combined impressively as nine-man Menai were dismissed for just 81.

Mynydd Isa and Maeshafn held their nerve to kick-off the new season with a 31-run triumph at Mochdre Seconds.

A series of contributions, including 30 extras, helped Isa to 154 for eight, a total that was looking under threat as Finlay Jones (47) and Adam Buckley (28) revelled in the sunshine.

But Matty Blunden helped himself to 5-17 to stop Mochdre in their tracks and secure Isa a valuable win.

Llay Welfare Seconds were unable to post a challenging total as they suffered an eight-wicket loss to Bangor Seconds.

Only Steve Partington (23) and Phil Bray (19) troubled the scorers as Llay were bowled out for 109.

And Bangor needed just 29 overs to make their way past that total to victory.

Northop Seconds didn't need to break sweat as scheduled opponents, Brymbo Seconds, were forced to concede.

Mold Seconds started their Division Three campaign with a stylish 83-run success over Flintshire rivals Pontblyddyn Seconds.

The Mold top order impressed as Ewan Hill (69) was supported by George Jones (27), Craig Roberts (26) and Seren Smale (21), the visitors making their way to 219, despite Tom Dawson's 3-34.

Dawson then crashed an excellent 98, including eight fours and six sixes, but he lacked support from his seven team-mates as Pont slipped to 136 all out, Keith Embleton claiming 4-17.

Daniel Jones and Harry Archer combined as Gwersyllt Park Seconds got the better of Pwllheli Seconds by four wickets.

Jones (3-22) and Archer (4-22) restricted Pwllheli to 154 for nine with the ball, before the duo hit 35 and 27 respectively with the bat.

Joining his team-mates in the runs was James Collier (30) as Gwersyllt reached victory from 36 overs of their reply.

Hawarden Park Seconds also started the new season on a winning note as they overcame Buckley Seconds by 24 runs.

Jamie Brailsford hit 63 and Phil Hankin added 20 as Hawarden posted 169 for nine, despite Alyn Evans' 4-33 and 3-25 from Simon Nicholls.

Evans then struck 58 as Buckley threatened to steal victory, but Ahmed Javed's 5-33 restricted them to 145.

Mynydd Isa and Maeshafn Seconds had no answer to the strength of Denbigh Seconds, who secured a 128-run away win.

Graham Houghton and Tom Hall took three wickets apiece, but Denbigh were still able to post 208 for eight, a total Isa came nowhere near reaching as they were bundled out for just 80
