CHESTER kept alive their slim chances of reaching the National League North play offs with a goalless draw against top of the table Chorley.

The result was the second scoreless game between the two sides this season and maintained the Blues' decent record against the division's leading teams.

The 90 minutes saw chances at a premium with defences on top as the likes of Akwasi Asante and Anthony Dudley struggled to create any clear cut openings.

How the players rated:

GRANT SHENTON: A good performance from the keeper who made a couple of decent saves and handled well. 7/10

MATTY WATERS: An assured performance from the full back who tried to get forward as often as he could. 7

DANNY LIVESEY: A brilliant display from the central defender who coped with everything thrown at him. 8

SIMON GRAND: Didn't put a foot wrong alongside Livesey but maybe could have done better with a header in the second half. 7

BRADLEY JACKSON: Struggled in the first and lost possession too many times but recovered well. 6

SEAN MCALLISTER: Continues to struggle with the pace of the game but is a calming influence and distributes well. 6

GARY ROBERTS: Not at his best but supplied some good balls into the area and did little wrong. 6

DAN MOONEY: A frustrating performance and lost the ball too often or opted for a wild shot when a pass would have been better. 5

CRAIG MAHON: Always busy but struggled to supply as many crosses as usual and was taken off. 6

ANTHONY DUDLEY: Well shackled by Chorley's excellent defenders and had few chances to score. 5

AKWASI ASANTE: A real battle with Chorley's Andy Teague saw him come off second best on a tough day for strikers. 5

SUBSTITUTES:

BEN MCKENNA: Made a big impact when he came on down the right against a tiring defence. 6

GEORGE WARING: Showed some nice touches and did well when he came on. 6

GEORGE GREEN: Did very little in his time on the pitch. 5
