STEVE DALE says Wrexham may need to look at different ways of winning matches as their quest to claim a top-four Adran Premier berth continues with their toughest task of the season.
On Sunday, the Reds face the daunting prospect of a clash away to current league leaders and defending champions Cardiff City.
A run of just one win from their opening four matches means the Reds are playing catch-up in their efforts to make sure of a top-four spot come the mid-season split.
Sixth-placed Wrexham are three points adrift of Barry, in fourth, and manager Dale told the club’s YouTube channel: “It’s not where we want to be.
“You know, we haven’t started well and we’re paying the price for that. But, we’ve always believed in the group and we’ve put little passages together where that little glimmer of hope comes back.
“We might have to find a different way to win sometimes.”
Last time out, the Reds suffered a 1-0 loss to high-flying The New Saints and Phoebe Davies, who provided her first 90-minute performance of the season, is urging Wrexham to make a return to winning ways.
That defeat to the second-placed Saints ended a five-match winning sequence in all competitions for Wrexham.
Following that match, Davies said: “I think we’ve got to work on ourselves. You know, we’re not miles off it.
“We’ve had some really good form over the last few weeks. We need to get back to that.
“We know we’re capable of it. We didn’t bring our ‘A’ game today.
“You know, we’ve got to do it for ourselves and for each other as well.”
Davies says there is still time for Wrexham ahead of the mid-season split and she added: “It’s not an ideal situation for us to be in, but there’s still plenty of games left of this phase.
“We’ve got to fix it, really. We know what we’re capable of.
“We’ve shown it previously and we’ll show it again. No issue about that.
“The girls, you know, we’re a big group. We’re always together and we’ll kick back.”
The New Saints have a trip to lowly Cardiff Met on Sunday, while Barry Town United play host to Briton Ferry Llansawel.
Elsewhere, Swansea City welcome Aberystwyth Town.
There’s a huge encounter lined up in Adran North.
For the fourth time already this season, leaders Connah’s Quay Nomads come up against title rivals Llandudno.
It’s Llandudno who will have home advantage and both sides go into the contest boasting 100 per cent winning records.
Llandudno have won their three league matches to date, while Aimee Redfern’s stoppage time goal confirmed Quay’s 3-2 win over Flint last time out, making it four wins out of four.
Flint will look to make home advantage count as they take on Y Felinheli.
Other fixtures: Bangor v NFA; Rhyl 1879 v Llanfair.
In the North Wales League’s Betty Pickering Cup, Northop Hall make the short trip to Airbus.
Other ties: Llanystumdwy v Caernarfon; Denbigh v Kinmel Bay; Llangefni v Amlwch; Berriew v Welshpool.
