A PEERS-LESS display made sure there was another triumphant National League North outing for Chester at the Deva Stadium.
On the back of their deserved 2-1 victory at home to then leaders Chorley on home turf, Calum McIntyre’s side followed it up with a 3-1 outcome at home to Oxford City.
Chester took control by the break and it was Tom Peers at the double to set the Blues on the way to their ninth league triumph of the campaign.
Peers’ opener arrived on 13 minutes when he was set up by Reece Daly.
Just three minutes later and Peers struck the post with a curling effort.
It was Peers and Chester at the double with six minutes of the first half remaining.
This time, a brilliant curling shot picked out the bottom corner of the net.
The visitors weren’t out of the contest just yet and Jalen Jones pulled a goal back seven minutes after the restart.
Lewis Coyle had a goal chalked off for offside as Oxford sought a leveller in the closing 20 minutes.
However, Peers’ hat-trick strike late on put the game to bed.
