CONNAH'S QUAY NOMADS were less than five minutes from securing a notable victory versus the Saints, until two goals in the space of 60 seconds swung things in favour of Harrison's side.
Quay took the lead nine minutes into the second half through Jack Kenny.
Chris Marriott picked out Fumpa Mwandwe in the box and his low cross was touched in by Kenny.
And that was that, until the 86th minute.
Declan McManus made the most of some space just inside the box and he poked his effort into the bottom corner.
Cruelly for Connah's Quay, the Saints then took the lead a minute later courtesy of Ben Clark's fine curling shot into the corner of the goal.
Paynter felt his side should have managed the game better after being pegged back.
He told S4C's Sgorio: "For my team, I was very, very pleased how they defended until that 87th minute, but with the quality that they have, they're always going to try and find a way.
"Okay, they've scored the equaliser. It was very important that we managed the game a lot better than what we did and then concede, what, moments straight after."
His counterpart Craig Harrison said: "You know, you dominated a game of football and then you end up you're 1-0 down and there's 10 minutes, 15 minutes left and they can quite easily go the wrong way and you end up getting beat.
"But, fortunately, we've got the quality. We always said from day one, the squad was always going to make a massive difference and, obviously, the two players that come off the bench, the quality of Dec and Clarky, and they get a goal each."
