WREXHAM continued their great run of form in the EFL Youth Alliance.
Alex Moore’s strike proved enough to see off Port Vale to keep the Reds in second place and two points behind leaders Bolton.
The young Reds, who are coached by former Everton and Chester striker Nick Chadwick, head to Burton Albion on Saturday.
Chadwick has praised his team after a stunning start to the season,
“The group really is outstanding,” Chadwick told the club website. “The lads have great character and they are really hungry to get better and improve. As a coach, it is our role to try and identify where the players can get better - it’s about improving our performances both individually and collectively.”
With Harry Ashfield and Aaron James making Phil Parkinson’s first team squad in the EFL Trophy this month, Chadwick added: “Last year’s group did outstandingly well and I was delighted for Harry Ashfield and Aaron James to go and play for the first-team last Tuesday, it was a big win for us as an Academy.
“We’ve now got to keep pushing and looking for the lads to develop now to see who can be the next one.”
