HAT-TRICK chasing Connah’s Quay Nomads are once more on the march in the North East Wales FA Women’s Cup.
Jordan Parry’s side, winners of the competition for the previous two seasons, progressed with a 2-1 success at home to Llangefni Town.
There were chances at both ends at the beginning of the contest, with Nomads’ keeper Charlotte Boland saving from Jess Jones, while Quay’s Natasha Spearing was denied by Katie Spruce.
The breakthrough came midway through the first half as Meg Andrews’ corner was headed in by Aimee Redfern, with her third goal in three matches.
Alisha Wright twice went close to adding to the tally as the half developed, while Nomads were indebted to Evie Chard for a goal-line clearance on the stroke of half-time.
It remained tight in the second half, with Alisha Whitehead-Hughes being denied from close range, while Llangefni’s Ffion Owen struck the post from distance.
Nomads eventually had some breathing space when Anais Bathily made it 2-0 with three minutes remaining.

Last season’s runners-up Airbus lost out 6-1 to Y Felinheli, with Laura Pratt netting a late consolation.
Meanwhile, Coedpoeth United were defeated 12-0 by Bangor.
In the remaining tie, Llandudno got the better of Kinmel Bay 9-2, with Ella Jones scoring four of the goals.

Defending Adran Premier champions Cardiff City were forced to work hard for their 2-0 success at home to The New Saints.
Lisa Owen was on target early in the second half at the Cardiff City Stadium, while Laura Curnock’s late strike sealed it.
Briton Ferry Llansawel’s stunning start to life in the top flight continued as they secured a 5-0 verdict at home to Aberystwyth Town.
Elsewhere, Barry eased to a 4-0 success at home to Aberystwyth.
