LLAY WELFARE boss Phil Hudson reckons a win at home to Penrhyncoch tomorrow will lift his side out of the bottom three.

“It’s going to a test but if results go our way and I think some will; and if we pick up three points that should see us claw our way out of the bottom three,” said Hudson, whose side have won their last two games 1-0.

The latest narrow victory was at Corwen in the Welsh Cup with Hudson admitting: “It wasn’t a brilliant performance but we got the job done.

“Two clean sheets on the bounce is a real positive and getting another win will be superb after the tough start we’ve had.

“Another good defensive display will be required and I know it sounds a bit cliche but there are no easy games in these and we have to play our A game against Penrhyncoch.”

Hudson, whose side prop up a competitive Cymru North table, isn’t helped by captain Max Peate’s unavailability while Bisensio Kamilo also misses out

“We’ve got a good squad and we’ll put a strong 18 out on Saturday.”

Flint Mountain’s losing sequence has now stretched to five matches although luck isn’t going Aden Shannon’s side’s way this season.

Last week’s Welsh Cup exit at Rhyl 1879 was the second shoot-out loss in a month so Shannon hopes things will swing their way at third from-bottom Prestatyn Town tonight.

“We deserved to beat Rhyl but penalties is a lottery, isn’t it?” said Shannon.

“We have trained well this week and it’s now time we put some consistency into our performances

“It’s a tough league and we have had a lot of changes but we are definitely going in the right direction.”

It’s been a positive start to the season for Mold Alex, who are fifth after winning five of their opening eight games. Another win at Guilsfield tomorrow could see Barry Owen’s side into the top-four.

Tomorrow, Ruthin host Caersws.
