PHIL PARKINSON was delighted Wrexham showed once again that they can win games when not playing at their best.
The Reds, whose unbeaten start to the League One campaign came to an end following a 3-1 defeat at Birmingham City on Monday, bounced back by beating Crawley Town 2-1 at The Racecourse.
Elliot Lee gave Wrexham the lead at the interval and although Crawley equalised early in the second half, Max Cleworth headed home George Dobson's cross in the 79th minute to secure victory which keeps Parkinson's men at the top of the table.
Although far from their best, the Reds' boss was just pleased his side found a way to win and maintain the 100 per cent home record.
"It was a tough afternoon for us," said Parkinson.
"In the first three games of the season, at home we have been excellent.
"Today we didn't reach those levels with or without the ball and we caused our own problems, certainly in the first half, by putting them on the counter attack with loose passes.
"But we have had games like that before here over the years where you don't play at your best for whatever reason, but it is about getting a result and finding a way to win.
"And we have done that with a terrific cross and a great finish from Max."
