CARL FORSTER has revealed the St Helens icon who has helped to shape his coaching career.
North Wales Crusaders’ head coach Forster has cited Daniel Anderson as a major influence on his own career in rugby league.
Forster (pictured above) told the club’s X site: “As a player, obviously my family influenced everything growing up, then my partner Sam and the kids.
“I try to take all the good things I’ve had from all my coaches I’ve played and trained under and mix my own ideas in with that.
“But if there’s a coach I always look back on it’s Daniel Anderson.
“He was unbelievable with me coming through at Saints.”
Anderson was at the helm at St Helens between 2005 and 2008, winning a hat-trick of Challenge Cups and reaching the Super League Grand Final in each of his seasons in charge.
Meanwhile, asked who he would pick if he could sign any player in the world, Forster responded: “Nathan Cleary. Without a doubt.”
Now a full-time coach having hung up his playing boots at the end of the League One season, Forster is plotting Crusaders’ next campaign.
