CHESTER striker Charlie Caton has been named as the National League North’s player of the month for August.
The forward made a stunning start to the campaign, scoring five goals in six games as Chester opened the season in positive fashion.
Caton, 21, has become the first Chester player to claim the player of the month award for three-and-a-half years, with captain George Glendon being the last player to claim this accolade back in January 2021.
Caton, the son of Bala Town boss Colin, continued his scoring form into September with a goal in the 1-1 draw at Kidderminster Harriers.
Boss Calum McIntyre told the club’s website: “I’m delighted Charlie’s terrific performances have been recognised with the league’s player of the month award for August.
“It is right to highlight his impressive goal return, but his overall performances have been superb.
“He is an important player for us and this will be the first time he has been recognised with such an award.
“I am really pleased for him, he is someone I think a lot of and this is just reward for his efforts.”
