BEING top of League One after only five games might not mean a lot at this stage but try telling that to Wrexham supporters!
Phil Parkinson's side continued the flying start to the season by beating arch-rivals Shrewsbury Town 3-0 in Saturday's cross-border derby at The Racecourse.
It was a comfortable win and not only did it extend the unbeaten start in the third tier, it also enabled the Reds to take over as leaders.
With only a handful of fixtures in the division taking place due to international call-ups, Wrexham took full advantage and climbed from second spot to the summit with a dominant victory.
No one is getting carried away. Prizes aren't given out at the September, but you can't fail to be impressed with the way Wrexham have adjusted to life at a higher level.
The players have hit the ground running and although Wrexham were tipped by many to challenge for an unprecedented third promotion in a row, other outsiders predicted that it would not they'd struggle in the third tier.
A total of 13 points from a possible 15, and having played against the likes of Bolton and Peterborough, cannot be sniffed at and the Reds deserve all the plaudits.
Likewise, the fans deserve to enjoy this moment.
Before Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney completed their takeover at The Racecourse, the non-league nightmare never looked like ending and long suffering supporters saw their club on the brink of going out of business in the dark old days.
Just like Parkinson, his players and staff, they will be keeping their feet on the ground because there is such a long way to go but why shouldn't they enjoy the moment!
They were sent home with a smile on their face after beating Shrewsbury who picked up their first win at home to Leyton Orient the previous weekend but were poor.
Wrexham never really got out of second gear and will have tougher tests than this but they still had a job to do and thoroughly deserved three points.
Ollie Palmer and Elliot Lee both scored their second goals of the season to leave the Reds in control at the break.
Leading scorer Jack Marriott made it 3-0, converting his third goal this term, in the second half and there was no way back for the Shrews after that.
More chances went begging and Wrexham could have won by more in the end.
Parkinson was pleased with how his side went about their business and made the most of having the majority of possession.
"It was going to be a different type of game because we knew Shrewsbury would sit off us out of possession and we would have time on the ball," he said.
"Like teams have done against us over the years and we have found solutions.
"We had to find where the space was on the pitch and our centre-backs stepping in with the ball were really important for us.
"It was a different feel to it because we had a lot more of the ball - even last week at home, Shrewsbury sat off the ball and let Orient have it - and I enjoyed watching us come up with the solutions."
