THE top of the table is taking on a familiar look.
Holywell and Airbus were involved in an epic title battle last season and the duo are there again, with Johnny Haseldin’s Wellmen making it five wins on the bounce in all competitions with their 2-1 verdict over Bangor 1876.
Defending champions Holywell took the lead after a quarter-of-an-hour.
A good ball by Jake Roberts released Jamie Breese and the prolific striker managed to slot the ball home.
Jake Cooke supplied the assist for the second goal with Danny Sullivan smashing one in from 35 yards.
Mason Blackwell-Jones pulled one back late on, but Holywell managed to see the game out.
There was disappointment for Gresford Athletic, who ended up being well beaten 4-0 at Ruthin Town.
Harry Martin’s fourth minute chip over Lewis Dutton made sure it was the perfect start from Dave Evans’ Ruthin.
Home keeper Dan Goldston twice saved from Charley Edge as Gresford sought a leveller, while Dave Forbes’ scrambled effort was blocked.
Martin fired home his second goal late in the first half and he completed his hat-trick on the hour.
Forbes hit the post as Athletic looked for a consolation, but the final word went the way of Ruthin with Llyr Morris’ stoppage time goal.
Colwyn Bay moved into third position with their comprehensive 4-0 triumph at home to Penrhyncoch.
Jamie Cummings found the target twice for Michael Wilde’s side, who secured their fourth league win of the season.
Craig Linfield and Dan Atkins were the other Bay marksmen, while visiting keeper Leigh Jenkins was in fine form to make sure other goals weren’t added to the tally.
Guilsfield and Llandudno played out a 1-1 draw in their encounter.
Harvey Bennett’s 37th minute penalty had Llandudno in the lead, but this was cancelled out by Iwan Matthews’ response just three minutes later.
