AIRBUS withstood a determined Buckley Town fightback to remain six points clear at the top of the standings.
Mark Allen’s leaders held a three-goal advantage in their Flintshire derby at The Globe and they ultimately had to be satisfied with a 3-2 success as they made it seven wins in a row.
Kaiden Cooke set up George Peers for the Wingmakers’ opener after a quarter-of-an-hour, while Peers doubled the advantage nine minutes into the second period.
Danny Warren’s eighth league goal of the season appeared to put the game to bed, but Buckley had other ideas.
Substitutes Connor Littler and James Rutter pulled goals back, but Airbus managed to keep their noses in front.
Boss Asa Hamilton told Buckley’s Facebook page: “We’re so close. We’re 3-0 down today and we’ve ended up coming back 3-2.
“We could have got a draw at the end.”
Flint Mountain let slip a three-goal advantage as they played out a 4-4 draw with Denbigh Town at the Essity Stadium.
Rob Hughes and Rowan Whelan had the hosts two goals to the good inside the opening 20 minutes, before Keelan Williams pulled one back midway through the first half.
Jack Sconce re-established the two-goal cushion five minutes from half-time for Aden Shannon’s Mountain men, who then went 4-1 ahead early in the second half via Alfie Clarke.
Two goals in the space of three minutes dragged Denbigh back into the contest.
Owen Davies struck and then Nathan Brown netted from the spot after a foul on Davies.
Then, with three minutes left to play, Denbigh made it four-apiece with Davies’ penalty.
A first league win of the season remains elusive for Llay Welfare, who suffered a 6-2 loss away to Prestatyn Town.
In a catastrophic start, Llay were 4-0 down inside the opening quarter-of-an-hour. Oliver Buckley (2), Tom Weir and Dave Hayes had Prestatyn out of sight, before Bisensio Kamilo pulled one back.
Scott Swords added another for the visitors in the second half, but Tyler Joyce and Ray Knight confirmed it was an excellent afternoon for the Seasiders.
Llay are the only side without a win this season and they’re two points adrift at the foot of the standings.
Mold Alex are up to fourth on the back of their 1-0 triumph away to Caersws.
Damase Kiwanda scored the only goal on the hour as Barry Owen’s side recorded their fourth league win of the campaign.
