COEDPOETH UNITED are going to enjoy their trip to Sunny Rhyl tomorrow.

Belle Vue beckons for Wayne Jones’ side as they take on former Welsh Premier League champions Rhyl 1879 in the first round.

“This is what you enter these cup competitions for; to get games like this at a ground like Rhyl’s,” said Coedpoeth club chairman Mark Hughes.

“We’re all looking to going to Rhyl. We’ve been told that their pitch is like a snooker table.

“The lads will love playing there and it’s a tie where we’ve got absolutely nothing to lose.”

Coedpoeth head to Rhyl in confident mood after beating their landlords, Lex XI, 2-1 in the North East Wales Premier Division a week ago.

Premier Division leaders Mynydd Isa will definitely be eyeing an upset as they host Ardal North East League strugglers, Chirk AAA.

“We have had a good start to the season,”said the club’s head of football James Hollyoak.

“We’re unbeaten in the league with four wins and two draws in what is a very hectic schedule throughout July and August.

“Tomorrow is another chance for us to pit ourselves against higher league opposition and it’s a challenge we are looking forward too.

“But we know we will need to be at our best to have a chance of qualifying for the next round.”

Corwen and Llanuwchllyn both hit the road with trips to Llannefydd and Boded respectively.

Ricky Evans takes his Lex XI side to Overton Recreational while Ardal North West League leaders Porthmadog welcome Holyhead Hotspur.
