MO FAAL was desperate to take to the pitch and play in front of Wrexham's fantastic away support but the striker is now looking forward to experiencing The Racecourse roar in a Reds' shirt when Shrewsbury Town are the visitors tomorrow.
The 21-year-old was brought in for an undisclosed fee from West Brom on transfer deadline day and named on the substitutes bench for Saturday's clash with Peterborough United.
More than 1,600 supporters made the trip to London Road and Faal admits he was taken aback by the electric atmosphere and brilliant backing that the players received.
Although disappointed he didn't come on and get to play in front of the travelling Red and White army who didn't stop singing all afternoon, Faal hailed the "incredible" support as Wrexham won 2-0 to extend the unbeaten start to the League One campaign to four matches.
"Saturday was unbelievable. It was my first game, it was away and the fans were absolutely incredible," said Faal.
"I've never seen anything like it. It was amazing just to be a part of it.
"Not coming on ... I wanted to play a little bit and get a cameo but just being there on the bench and taking in the atmosphere was absolutely crazy.
"It definitely took me aback. The fans were going on for about 20 minutes at one point, it was incredible."
Gambian-born Faal, who has signed a contract through to June 2027 with an option for a further year, spent last season on loan at League Two clubs Doncaster Rovers and Walsall, scoring 15 goals which included finding the net for the former in a 2-1 defeat to Phil Parkinson's side at The Racecourse last September.
Now he will be in Wrexham colours when arch rivals Shrewsbury are in town for the cross-border derby and he is looking forward to it.
"When you are an away team coming here and you see the noise and atmosphere created, being a part of it now on the home side is going to be crazy," said Faal. "I can't wait for it."
Wrexham supporters will be eager to get one over the Shrews but Faal is treating it like another fixture.
"Our fans are going to be all over that one but for us, we treat it as another game," he added.
"It is the next game in front of us and it is the next team for us to try and beat.
"Play the game and not the occasion."
