WREXHAM striker Billy Waters has joined Halifax Town on loan until January.

The 29-year-old arrived at The Racecourse in March 2023, putting pen to paper on a contract until the end of the 2024-25 season after signing from Barrow for an undisclosed fee., but he has found opportunities limited.

After making his debut as a substitute in the 1-1 draw at Torquay United in the final game of the campaign when automatic promotion from the National League had already been secured, Waters was again out of favour on the Reds' return to the Football League.

Waters was left out of Phil Parkinson's 22-man squad list which was submitted to the Football League last September for the first half of the 2023-4 League Two campaign, with the experienced frontman making seven appearances in total, the last coming as a substitute in the 3-2 defeat to Burton Albion in the EFL Trophy second round tie on December 5.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Doncaster Rovers but hasn't featured this term in Wrexham's opening four league and cup matches.

A product of the Crewe Alexandra youth academy, making his professional debut in League One in 2013, Waters also counts Cheltenham Town, Northampton Town, Torquay and Halifax, where he spent the 2021-22 season and scored 18 goals in the National League before switching to Barrow, among his former clubs.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson told the official club website: “I’d like to wish Billy all the best at Halifax.

“There were a number of clubs interested in him, but he had his heart set on Halifax, where he had a successful spell before, and I wish him well.”

Halifax currently sit 17th in the National League.
