JACK MARRIOTT says Wrexham won't get ahead of themselves but be believes the players can take a lot of confidence from the excellent start to the League One season.
Phil Parkinson's side go into tomorrow's clash against Peterborough United at London Road unbeaten after the opening three games, putting the Reds fourth in the table with seven points from a possible nine.
It's still early days so Marriott isn't getting carried away but he feels back-to-back promotion winners Wrexham can take a lot of heart from the results they've picked up as they adjust to life at a higher level.
"It's been a really good start," said Marriott. "We can't complain about the performances and the results but we have to focus on the next game now.
"The start we've had gives us confidence of what we can do at this level, especially with the calibre of teams we have come up against so far.
"We take that into Saturday's game and hopefully another good performance."
Wrexham won their first two home games against Wycombe Wanderers (3-2) and Reading (3-0) while the only away match ended in a goalless draw at promotion favourites Bolton Wanderers.
Marriott was pleased with a point but insists the Reds will be aiming to rack up wins on their travels as well as at The Racecourse.
"Bolton are a massive club and to get a point at their place was important," said Marriott.
"We take positives from that and take that into every away game.
"With the away form, if we can draw games and then turn more of those into wins, it would be so important especially for our overall points tally."
Experienced frontman Marriott counts Peterborough among his former clubs and he enjoyed a hugely successful first spell with the Posh, picking up the League One Golden Boot in the 2017-18 season after scoring 27 goals.
"Peterborough is a great club," said Marriott, who joined Wrexham from Fleetwood on winter transfer deadline day.
"I have still got a lot of friends there and a lot of people that I know.
"It will be a tough test, they are always there or thereabouts, and it should be a really good game.
"I think it is the first time I have been back there as an opposing player so I am looking forward to it."
Marriott has started all three league games in attack alongside Ollie Palmer and he scored a stunning volley against Wycombe on the big kick-off.
Star striker Paul Mullin, who missed the start of the campaign after undergoing spinal surgery in the middle of June to correct a long-term lower-back and hamstring issue, made his comeback as a second half substitute in last Saturday's win against Reading.
With Steven Fletcher and Sam Dalby among the strike options available to Parkinson, there is no shortage of competition but Marriott takes that in his stride.
"Every position is the same," he added.
"Everyone has got to keep doing their best for the team and hope that they can keep their shirt."
