PHIL PARKINSON is not a fan of English Football League rules on squad size but the Reds' boss admits having too many players can have a negative effect.
Clubs in League One are limited to a 22-man squad, although that number does not include goalkeepers or players who were under the age of 21 - such as defender Aaron James - at the start of the calendar year.
The transfer window closes at 11pm tomorrow night and the Reds' boss, who hasn't ruled out making a new signing before then, currently has more than 22 senior outfield players at The Racecourse.
Parkinson will have to submit his squad to the EFL next month and anyone who fails to make the cut will only be able to feature in cup games until clubs are allowed to change their list when the January transfer window opens.
On a cap on the amount of players that can be named in a squad, Parkinson said: "I have said what I have got to say on that.
"But equally, there is also a manageable number at a football club.
"You want enough cover in the squad but you don't want the training group to be too big every day because that loses the quality of the sessions."
Parkinson is still hoping players who are unlikely to make the squad and be part of his plans for the first half of the season will go out on loan and gain first-team football elsewhere.
Wrexham have played four league and cup games so far this season but the likes of strike duo Jake Bickerstaff and Billy Waters haven’t featured yet.
"It is quiet as it stands," he added.
"The market is crazy for players, it really is, and a couple of ours might go out on loan, but even that has quietened down a little bit.
"I think everybody is jostling for position.
"There are a few days to go and we will see what happens."
