PHIL PARKINSON stressed the importance of Wrexham finding a way to win on their travels as they prepare for a second away game in League One.
The Reds have made an impressive start to life in the third tier and are currently unbeaten with seven points from a possible nine to sit fourth in the standings.
With two home wins against Wycombe Wanderers and Reading, Wrexham also dug deep to secure a goalless draw at Bolton Wanderers.
Back on the road at Peterborough United tomorrow, Parkinson felt the away form improved as last season wore on when his side finished runners-up in League Two and he is relishing the challenges facing Wrexham when they play away from The Racecourse at a higher level.
"Like I said last year, it is how many points you have at the end of the season that count," said the Reds' boss.
"What the split is between home and away, it is about what you end up with as a total.
"I felt parts of last season we had a bit of a struggle away from home and then we improved a lot towards the end of the season.
"I was really pleased with that. We sat down with the lads and found solutions to the areas which we felt we'd problems away and I was very pleased with how we finished last season.
"We found a way to win in those scrappy games. There was a spell like at Accrington for instance where we needed to find the armoury within the group to go and win in those scrappy games where the pitches are deteriorating a little bit and maybe the conditions aren't conducive to how we want to play but we found a way and that contributed to us getting over the line."
After picking up a point in the first away game at Bolton, who are one of the favourites for promotion, Parkinson is expecting another tricky test against Peterborough - beaten in the play-off semi-finals last term - at London Road.
"We have had a good start," he added. "The approach and mentality at Bolton was very strong.
"It was a very important display for us, a good benchmark game.
"Of course, away is historically tougher and it is a great challenge for us going down to Peterborough; a team with back-to-back play-off campaigns but also a lot of expectation on them as well.
"We will prepare the lads well and go down there full of confidence which I know the lads are."
