CARL FORSTER is excited about what the future could bring at ambitious North Wales Crusaders.
Head coach Forster, who is to hang up his boots at the end of the current campaign, has signed a new two-year deal to remain at the helm of the Colwyn Bay-based club until the end of the 2026 season.
Forster told CruCast: “It’s really good. You know, excited about what’s to come and, just on a personal note, it’s nice to have that security for two years.
“Obviously, it’s never nice when you’ve got to stop playing and you don’t know what’s around the corner, but obviously, I’m lucky enough to be in a position I’ve been in the last couple of years as a player-coach and I’m hoping the transition is as smooth as I believe it will be.”
Crusaders still have a chance to reach the end-of-season League One play-offs, but they will have to win their remaining two matches to stay in the mix.
Following a 28-20 defeat at Hunslet, seventh-placed Crusaders travel to Rochdale Hornets on Sunday, before they host Cornwall on September 1.
Forster told the club’s website: “We can work on plays, video, in the gym, but when it comes to on the field it’s about those smarts that get you over the line. If we play like we did against Oldham a few months ago, like we did against Keighley last week, then we’ll finish in the play-offs this season.”
