THERE’S been further good news in the North Wales Crusaders camp.

Chris Barratt is the latest player to sign on the dotted line for Carl Forster’s Cru ahead of the 2024 campaign.

A former Coventry Bears player, Barratt joined the Crusaders back in 2020, during a season that was curtailed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Since then, he has made a total of 65 appearances.

He was a key figure during last season’s run through to the League 1 play-off grand final, scoring six tries in 23 league and cup appearances.

Barratt told the club’s website: “I’m really happy to stay. I feel like I’ve really settled in at the club and with the fans.

“I’m excited and looking forward to pushing on and trying to go one step further next season.”

Player-coach Forster, who is busy assembling a competitive squad for next year, added: “This is a huge retention for the club.

“External interest is always high in Baz and he’s chosen to stay loyal with us.

“He’s a huge part of the group on and off the field. He leads from the front and sets the standard in the middle of the field.”
