PHIL PARKINSON was his normal level-headed self despite a massive day when Wrexham got one over rivals Notts County in the race for the National League title.

Parkinson saw his side clinch a 2-1 victory against Bromley at Hayes Lane to extend the unbeaten league run to 26 games.

Top scorer Paul Mullin scored a quick-fire brace in the second half to reach the 40-goal mark for the season and put Wrexham two-nil up and although Bromley reduced the deficit, the Reds held on for a huge win in the quest for automatic promotion.

Success enabled Wrexham to extend their lead at the top of the table to three points after the Magpies were held to a 1-1 draw by Barnet, and the Reds also have a game in hand.

With eight matches remaining, Wrexham's destiny remains in their own hands but Parkinson wasn't getting carried away despite registering what could be a significant win on the artificial playing surface at Hayes Lane.

"It is about getting our job done," said Parkinson.

"They got a goal back and it made it slightly edgy but I feel if we hadn't taken three points, it would have been very harsh in terms of the balance of the game.

"We got the win and when teams around you - particularly Notts County, obviously - have dropped points, then that it is a bonus."

Parkinson preferred to focus on his own side rather than County after picking up a third win in as many games on 4G pitches this season, with the latest victory leaving Wrexham in an even stronger position to secure a return to the Football League going down the final straight.

"Bromley away on the 4G pitch and they are a good side as well, it is always a tough game and I just think it was a huge performance from us to come away with three points," added Parkinson.

"The lads were great.

"It was a hard game and the pitch makes a difference; I can say that now we have been on three 4G pitches and won every time!"
