PHIL PARKINSON wants an action repeat when Wrexham continue the title challenge against Southend United at The Racecourse tomorrow.

The Reds won 4-0 at Dagenham and Redbridge on Tuesday night to move four points ahead of automatic promotion rivals Notts County, with both teams having 10 games remaining.

Parkinson described it as the best away display of the season and while Wrexham are back on home territory this weekend, he is looking for more of the same against play-off contenders Southend to maintain their advantage at the summit.

"I'd rather be there than second or any other place in the league," said Parkinson.

"That's the aim but it is eyes down and concentrate; straight away we are concentrating on what we have got to do against Southend and looking for the manner of the display on Tuesday.

"In all my time here we have tried to strive for physicality when it's needed but quality and control in games, and we have got the players to do that.

"I thought Andy Cannon was immense. It is harsh to single anyone out but in terms of his ball retention and working to get the ball, he gave us a great base to go and control the game."

Wrexham conceded a late equaliser and had to be content with a 2-2 draw at Maidenhead on Saturday.

Back on the road against the Daggers, Parkinson felt his side performed more like their usual self.

"It was just important that we got back to winning ways after dropping two points at the weekend," he added.

"And more importantly, the performance.

"Saturday was difficult because you almost get dragged down to the way Maidenhead play and that's not being disrespectful at all because I think they are a good team; they are good at what they do but it becomes a very scrappy game.

"I said to the lads that we scrapped and we fought but we needed to play and the surface was good at Dagenham.

"It was a great opportunity for us to get back into our rhythm as a team and I felt we did that."
