RYAN BARNETT loved his time at Solihull Moors but the wide-man couldn't turn down the opportunity to join Wrexham's automatic promotion challenge.

The 23-year-old has arrived at The Racecourse for an undisclosed fee, putting pen to paper on a contract until the end of the 2024-25 season.

After signing for Solihull in the summer of 2021 having previously had a loan spell at Damson Park, Barnett helped Moors reach last season's National League play-off final where they lost 2-1 to Grimsby Town.

Grimsby beat Wrexham 5-4 in an epic semi-final showdown but the Reds have launched another promotion push this term and are fighting it out for the title with Notts County.

Barnett jumped at the chance to play his part in the quest for a place in the Football League and be part of an exciting project under Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, the club's Hollywood owners.

"I heard a few things through my agent over the past couple of weeks," said Barnett, who has been an unused substitute in wins against Dorking Wanderers and Chesterfield since signing for Wrexham.

"It went a bit quiet at one point and I didn't think things would materialise but once we knew that the fee had been agreed with Solihull, there was only one place in my mind where I was coming.

"I can't put into words how much I enjoyed my time at Solihull.

"But when an opportunity like this comes about, a club the size of Wrexham, it was hard for me to say no.

"With the project that is going on here, it was definitely something I couldn't turn down.

"I am going to work really hard and try and help the boys."
