RYAN BARNETT has joined Wrexham from National League rivals Solihull Moors for an undisclosed fee, subject to league approval.

The versatile wide-man, aged 23, has signed a contract at the Racecourse Ground until the end of the 2024-25 season.

Paperwork has been submitted with the view to Barnett being available to make his debut at home to Dorking Wanderers on Saturday.

On signing for Wrexham, Barnett, who will wear the number 29 shirt, told the official club website: “I’m very excited for this opportunity. I had a great time at Solihull, but I know what a huge club Wrexham is and I knew I couldn’t turn that chance down.

“You look at the quality Wrexham have, and the strength in depth, it’s something I really wanted to challenge myself with.

“The goal is promotion. Simple as. I want to come in and give my best, but the main aim is to get this club back to where they want to be.”

Barnett started his career at Shrewsbury Town, coming through the club’s youth academy and making a handful of appearances in League One and the EFL Trophy.

He also spent time on loan with AFC Telford United, Gloucester City and Solihull, before signing for Moors permanently in 2021.

Barnett helped Solihull reach the National League play-off final last season where they lost to Grimsby Town and Reds' boss Phil Parkinson is delighted to land the wide-man.

“I’m pleased to welcome Ryan to the Club," said Parkinson. “He’s an exciting young player and will be a strong addition to the first-team squad.”
