ANTHONY FORDE was delighted to show what he can do from a set-piece but the "amazing feeling" of scoring a fantastic free-kick was soured by failure to pick up a win against Woking at The Racecourse.

Wrexham dropped points at home for the first time this season after drawing 2-2 with the Cards on Tuesday.

Woking took an early lead but Forde got the Reds back on level terms just before the break.

Top scorer Paul Mullin was brought down just outside the area and Forde found the top corner of the net with his free-kick, giving goalkeeper Craig Ross no chance.

Free-kick specialists Jordan Davies and Tom O'Connor were absent through injury and Forde was pleased to make the most of his opportunity with the dead ball, although Woking scored an equaliser to secure a point after Mullin had put the Reds ahead in the second half.

"I practice them so I fancy myself when I get the chance," said Forde.

"I haven't had many chances this season but to be fair, Tom and some of the others have got a few goals from them.

"You want a few options and I have been practicing them so I was delighted to get one.

"It felt great to be honest, I caught it sweet and it was an amazing feeling when it went in but it would have been better if we had got the win."

Forde, brought in from Oxford United last summer, scored his second goal of the season having opened his account in the 6-0 victory over lowly Torquay on September 24.

Fellow wing-back Jacob Mendy also netted in Saturday's 3-1 win over Wealdstone and while Wrexham don't struggle to find the target - the Reds are the second highest scorers in the division - Forde stressed the importance of everyone weighing in with goals.

"It is important to try and chip in with a few goals," he said.

"That obviously helps the team and makes things easier for the strikers, but they have been excellent and all the other lads have scored quite a few."

Wrexham struggled to get going against Woking and Forde says it was an off-day as the run of 13 home league wins came to an end.

"It is disappointing because we didn't really get a foothold in the game like we usually do," added Forde.

"It was scrappy and not the best performance.

"Woking made it hard for us but we are still better than that.

"We fought until the end and we got the point but it is not like the usual feeling."
