WREXHAM dropped their first points of the season at The Racecourse as Woking clinched a 2-2 draw.

Phil Parkinson's side had won their previous 13 National League home matches but the 100 per cent record was ended by the Cards who showed why they are so high up the table.

It was second against third and Wrexham had to be content with a point following a difficult encounter in front of another 10,000-plus crowd.

Wrexham came from behind to lead 2-1 thanks to goals either side of the break from Anthony Forde and Paul Mullin, who scored his 31st goal of the season from the spot.

But Woking converted a second half penalty of their own to earn a draw and second placed Wrexham are now five points behind Notts County who came from behind to beat high-fliers Barnet 4-1, although the Reds have two games in hand.

Parkinson made three changes from the side that started Saturday's 3-1 win over Wealdstone which extended the unbeaten league record to 17 games.

Tom O'Connor - playing at centre-half instead of his preferred midfield position - and wing-back Callum McFadzean sustained knocks against the Stones and didn't appear for the second half so they were replaced by Harry Lennon and Jacob Mendy respectively for the Cards clash.

The other change was in midfield with December signing Andy Cannon replacing James Jones who dropped to the substitutes bench.

It was Woking who made a perfect as the visitors took a seventh minute lead.

A corner was flicked on and Padraig Amond scored with a free header at the back post.

Wrexham's first sight of goal came when Ollie Palmer's looping header from Ben Tozer's throw-in was comfortably saved by keeper Craig Ross.

Tozer's long throw-ins were proving to be Wrexham's biggest chance of an equaliser with the Reds losing possession and struggling to make inroads when they got into the Woking half.

It was tough going for Wrexham against a well organised and physical Woking side whose hunger could not be faulted with the Cards giving a very good account of themselves.

James Daly picked up a loose ball and fired wide from just outside the area while Wrexham had a half-chance when Paul Mullin's cross was cleared as far as Cannon whose volley drifted wide.

But Wrexham came close to scoring when Ross managed to get his finger-tips to Jacob Mendy's shot cross goal to turn the ball onto the post.

However, the Reds were back on level terms in the 38th minute.

Mullin was brought down just outside the area and Forde scored with a well-executed free-kick which gave Ross no chance and found the top corner.

It remained 1-1 at the break while Luke Young's corner early in the second half resulted in a goal-mouth scramble but Woking managed to clear the danger.

It was a better start to the second half and Wrexham went 2-1 up in the 56th minute.

Palmer was brought down in the area and Mullin converted the resulting penalty.

Rhys Browne fired into the side-netting at the other end while Parkinson made a double change after 71 minutes with Jones and Max Cleworth replacing Cannon and Lennon respectively.

But Woking were quickly back on level terms when Jones was adjudged to have fouled Daly in the area.

Browne took the penalty and he slotted past Howard.

Wrexham responded with Elliot Lee's low drive which was deflected wide for a corner which came to nothing while Sam Dalby came on for Forde with 10 minutes remaining.

A late header was gratefully gathered by Ross and Wrexham had to be content with a point.
