PHIL PARKINSON won't be taking Farnborough lightly and is leaving no stone unturned as Wrexham attempt to reach the FA Cup third round for the first time since the 2014-15 season.

The Reds take on sixth tier Farnborough in Saturday' second round tie at The Racecourse.

Parkinson saw Boro, who secured a date with Wrexham after beating League Two side Sutton United 2-0 in round one, draw 0-0 at Braintree Town in last Tuesday's National League South encounter.

The Reds boss will continue to do his homework as Wrexham aim to progress in the famous cup competition.

"I was fortunate enough to be able to go and see Farnborough at Braintree and we had them watched again on Saturday," said Parkinson.

"They are a competitive, very well organised team, I could see that straight away and they did really well at Sutton in the last round.

"Obviously any team that goes to Sutton and wins 2-0 has got certain qualities and I could see how they got that result when I watched them.

"We are going to enjoy the build-up this week and look at Farnborough in even more detail.

"It is going to be a real test for us but if we maintain the standards we have set, we will have a great chance of progressing."

Wrexham were taken to a replay by another sixth tier side in Blyth Spartans in the fourth qualifying round, eventually going through with a 3-2 victory, and Parkinson is giving Farnborough the respect they deserve.

"It was a really tough game against Blyth and you then look at their results after that," said Parkinson.

"Blyth struggled to get a result and that gave you a great indication of how teams raise their game in the FA Cup.

"We have got to be ready for that and accept that is going to happen.

"The minute you take a team lightly and you feel all you have got to do is turn up, you will come unstuck because you have got to respect everybody, and we certainly will.

"But equally, we will do everything we can to get the lads in the best physical and tactical shape going into the game.

"We will make sure every player gets the right work this week and put themselves available for selection."
