THE FA Cup will always have a special place in Elliot Lee's heart.

Lee made his professional debut for West Ham United as a substitute in a 1-0 defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford in a third round replay in January 2013.

Wrexham's priority is challenging for promotion from the National League but Lee, who arrived at The Racecourse from Luton Town in the summer, is looking forward to Saturday's home second round tie against Farnborough, and progressing in the competition is at the forefront of his mind.

"It is a competition that has been really good for me," said Lee.

"That was a huge occasion for me, an 18-year-old coming on for West Ham with about 70,000 fans at Old Trafford.

"I owe a lot to the FA Cup but I don't think I have gone too far in it, probably third or fourth round.

"We have got a great draw in front of our fans and all the lads are really looking forward to it.

"It is a nice distraction from the league, hopefully we can win and get a great draw."

Wrexham go into the tie on the back of Saturday's 2-0 win against Aldershot Town which took the Reds back to the top of the table.

But Lee refuses to get carried away by the Reds' lofty position with just over half of the season remaining.

"It is a nice bonus for us being top of the league going into the FA Cup game," added Lee.

"But there is no league won in November, it is a marathon not a sprint.

"We have just got to keep working hard, stay humble and keep doing what we are doing.

"We can't control what happens at the end of the season, we can only control the next game and we are doing that well so far."
