IT was a job well done as Wrexham beat Aldershot Town 2-0 at The Racecourse to return to the top of the National League.

Wrexham were well in control in the first half and goals from top scorer Paul Mullin - his 17th of the season - and James Jones gave Phil Parkinson's side a deserved lead.

More chances arrived in the second period and although the game petered out, the result was never in doubt as the Reds maintained the 100 per cent home record and took over as leaders from Notts County who drew 0-0 with Yeovil.

Here's how the players rated:

MARK HOWARD: Never troubled until the second half and the goalkeeper kept another clean sheet. 6

BRYCE HOSANNAH: Back in the side and had a decent first half but hamstring injury forced him off at the break. 6

AARON HAYDEN: Returned from injury and was his usual solid self. 7

BEN TOZER: Distribution was excellent and his throw-ins, particularly first half, caused lots of problems. 8

JORDAN TUNNICLIFFE: Is having an excellent run in the side and proving to be an excellent signing. 7

CALLUM MCFADZEAN: Was a threat all game down the left-flank and untroubled at the other end. 7

JAMES JONES: Where does he get his energy from? Got everywhere on the pitch and his passing was spot on. 8

LUKE YOUNG: Pressed Aldershot to make sure it was Wrexham who dictated the play. 8

ELLIOT LEE: Lively from the first whistle and was only denied a goal by goalkeeping heroics. 8

PAUL MULLIN: Brilliant finish for his 17th goal of the season as he continued his rich vein of scoring form. 8

OLLIE PALMER: Worked hard, won his headers and came close to getting on the scoresheet. 8

SUBSTITUTES

LIAM MCALINDEN: Set up one good chance when he came on. 6
