PHIL PARKINSON wanted Wrexham to show "everyone what this club is all about" in their televised FA Cup tie against Oldham Athletic and he got his wish.

The first round tie at The Racecourse was screened live on ITV and Wrexham won 3-0 to progress in the famous cup competition.

Another sell-out crowd saw the Reds put their name in the hat for tonight's second round draw thanks to Sam Dalby's second goal of the season and top scorer Paul Mullin's brace.

Wrexham maintained their 100 per cent home record by beating National League rivals Oldham and Parkinson hailed his side's display.

"I am very pleased. I thought it was a good performance," said Parkinson.

"Honest, hard-working with some real quality in there as well.

"We didn't make a big thing of it before the game but the wider television audience, it was important that we showed everyone what this club is all about.

"The atmosphere was fantastic but the way the lads went about their business was very professional.

"You could see there was a great togetherness out there and I am very pleased to progress into the next round."

Promotion is the priority for Wrexham, who are second in the National League and just one point behind Notts County, but Parkinson was eager to continue the winning habit in the cup.

"There was a real focus about us," said Parkinson.

"Whether it is the FA Cup or the league, it is important that we maintain standards and I really felt we did that.

"There were some excellent play but little things like Jordan Tunnicliffe's block in the last minute to make sure we didn't concede, those moments are just as important as the goals at the other end.

"It is a good day at the office for us and we have got players some minutes."

Dalby, who took over from Ollie Palmer in attack, opened the scoring in the 10th minute and Parkinson praised the striker's all-round performance.

"I thought Dalby was excellent," said Parkinson.

"Even though the referee didn't seem to be on his side certainly in the second half, his general play was great and that is a real bonus for us.

"Dalby has waited patiently, a bit like Jordan Tunnicliffe and Elliot Lee.

"We have brought players in but there are good players here who have done well for the club.

"I am pleased for Sam, his all-round game was very good; any striker thrives on goals and he got one."

Mullin struck either side of the break to take his tally for the season to 15 goals and Parkinson added: "Mulls was good.

"He is a difficult player to come up against because if teams play a high-line, he will exploit them in behind; if they sit off, he is clever at finding those pockets of space.

"We brought him off just to give him a little bit of a breather even though he probably wanted to stay on to try and get his hat-trick, but he put in a good shift."
