PHIL PARKINSON will enjoy resuming the FA Cup campaign knowing Wrexham are in a "strong" position in the National League.

Second placed Wrexham beat Maidenhead United 1-0 on Tuesday to maintain their 100 per cent home record and the Reds are now just one point behind leaders Notts County who were held to a 1-1 draw by Bromley.

The promotion challenge is the priority but Parkinson still wants to progress in the famous cup competition and he is relishing Sunday's first round tie against Oldham Athletic at The Racecourse, with the game being televised live by ITV.

"We are looking forward to it," said Parkinson.

"We had to work hard to get into this round, it was a tricky tie against Blyth.

"But as I said with the Blyth game, it is a nice break for us. We can just enjoy the atmosphere.

"The FA Cup is special and we will look to continue our run at home.

"We go into any game wanting to play at our very best and our club has got great history in the FA Cup.

"It will be another great crowd here and it is just nice to go into it in a strong league position and with another league win under our belts."

Bryce Hosannah knows the league comes first but the wing-back wants to continue the winning habit by progressing in the cup, with Wrexham registering 10 successive victories in all competitions at The Racecourse this season.

"We are coming up against a team in our league at home and we want to go out there and get through to the next round," added Hosannah.

"It's as simple as that.

"It is a cup game but every game is important and it just keeping the rhythm of winning at home."
