PHIL PARKINSON knows there are areas to improve on following an epic win but the Wrexham boss hailed his side’s fantastic goal scoring record.

The Reds beat Barnet 7-5 in Saturday’s showdown at The Racecourse to remain second in the National League, one point behind leaders Notts County.

Wrexham have bagged 38 goals in their 13 league games, with no team in the top four divisions scoring more this season.

Although unhappy with the defending in the weekend victory, Parkinson was delighted with the attacking threat posed by his team and feels there is even more to come from the Reds.

“There is still so much time left in the season,” said Parkinson.

“I still think we will keep getting better.

“I have enjoyed watching the team so far this season, we have had a terrific start and I enjoyed watching elements of our play on Saturday.

“We probably could have scored 10. I felt we could score every time we went forward.

“I don’t want to concentrate too much on the frustration with the goals we conceded because to score seven goals and be the top scorers in the country is a great achievement to our attacking players and the structure of the way the lads are playing, so that is great.

“In any win, there is always areas you can improve and there are quite a few after Saturday.”

Summer signing Elliot Lee was handed his first start at The Racecourse and the playmaker produced an excellent performance, weighing in with two assists, to the delight of Parkinson.

“I thought he played with a good intensity and urgency when the ball got to him,” said the Reds’ boss.

“He looked like he was going make things happen.

“I am just so pleased for Elliot because he has had to be so patient, the team has been doing really well.

"But while he has been waiting for his chance, he has got himself in great physical condition and you saw that today.

"I brought him off because I didn't want to get him injured, it is his first start for a while.

"But I said after the Eastleigh game that our supporters will enjoy watching Elliot play over the course of the season because he has got terrific footballing ability and he showed that."
