WREXHAM were in seventh heaven against Barnet but Phil Parkinson was frustrated with the goals his side conceded in an epic encounter at The Racecourse.

The Reds bounced back from a second defeat of the season at high-flying Notts County by beating Barnet 7-5 in front of 9,987 supporters - the highest home gate of the season - to stay second in the National League.

It was a topsy turvy affair with Parkinson seeing his side take an early lead, then trail 2-1 but recover to go 3-2 up at the interval.

Barnet equalised early in the second half but Wrexham scored four times in 11 minutes to pull clear, although the Bees netted twice to reduce the deficit by the final whistle.

Parkinson's men recovered from 5-2 down to overcome Dover 6-5 during last season's title challenge and although this match wasn't as dramatic, Parkinson saw similarities.

"It didn't quite have the tension of Dover but if we are honest, it had a similar feel in terms of the momentum in the game," said the Reds' boss.

"We got the goal, we then go a bit slack, we need another goal and we switch on again.

"We have got the capability to do that but I want more than that.

"I want the mentality to be right all the time and show that ruthless side to our game, and go and win 7-0.

"I have got to give Barnet a lot of credit because they are brave in the way they set the team up.

"We said to the lads that these have got some dangerous players and we need to deal with them. At times we didn't.

"The goal in the top corner is a wonder strike but in other areas, obviously we could have done better."
