WREXHAM beat Dagenham and Redbridge 4-1 at The Racecourse to make it five wins in a row and stay second in the table.

Football resumed after the National League cancelled all fixtures on Saturday - including Wrexham’s home clash against Maidenhead United - following the death of Queen Elizabeth II and Wrexham, last in action 10 days earlier when they thrashed Dorking Wanderers 5-0, didn't disappoint in front of another bumper crowd.

Phil Parkinson's side dominated the first half and played some brilliant football, thoroughly deserving their 2-0 lead at the break and it could have been more.

After a quiet period early in the second half, Wrexham were soon back on the offence and grabbed two more goals to put the game beyond Dagenham, who reduced the deficit in added time.

Dangerous strike duo Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer bagged a brace apiece to take their tallies for the season to seven and six respectively, keeping the Reds the top scorers in the division with 23 goals in eight outings.

Wrexham remain one point behind leaders Southend heading into Saturday's game at Southend.

Parkinson named the same side that started the big win over Dorking in the last outing.

With Wrexham in a rich vein of form, the Reds' boss also named an unchanged substitutes bench.

There were some boos and shouts during the minute's silence for the Queen ahead of kick-off, and Wrexham soon began to their feet.

The home side saw shouts for a penalty waved away by referee Andrew Miller after Mullin appeared to have been brought down in the area by a defender in the 10th minute.

Wrexham kept the pressure on and James Jones immediately saw a low shot tipped around the post by Daggers keeper Elliot Justham.

At the other end, Joshua Walker skipped between two defender and teed up Paul McCallum whose effort was far too tame and easily gathered by Wrexham keeper Mark Howard.

The Reds had the upper hand and Mullin's curling drive just fell wide, but Parkinson's men took the lead in the 25th minute.

Anthony Forde delivered a brilliant cross from the right into the danger-zone where the ball bounced once and Palmer headed past Justham.

There was no let-up from Wrexham who were well on top and putting the Daggers defence under increased pressure.

Luke Young's shot was deflected out for a corner from which Palmer failed to hit the target with a header, while the lively Forde beat his man and sent in a low cross that was just beyond Jacob Mendy.

There was no let-up and an ambitious flick by Aaron Hayden following a free-kick was brilliantly saved by Justham and Mullin's follow-up was blocked, while Jones was put through on goal and thwarted by the Daggers stopper.

Wrexham needed a second goal after playing so well and it came on the stroke of half-time.

Young's corner was flicked on to the far post where an unmarked Mullin headed home.

It was a fantastic first half performance, with the 2-0 lead thoroughly deserved, and Wrexham picked up where they left off after the interval.

Mullin was denied by Justham within 60 seconds of the restart but there was then a break in play due to an injury which disrupted Wrexham's rhythm.

McCallum headed wide from Myles Weston's cross with Dagenham's best chance of the game

Jordan Davies' long range effort never threatened the target while Jones wasn't far away with a header from Palmer's cross.

But Wrexham made it 3-0 in the 72nd minute.

Davies threaded a superb pass through to Mullin who fired past Justham to score his second goal of the night.

Just three minutes later and Wrexham grabbed a fourth goal, with Palmer finding the net with a low drive to double his tally.

Davies saw a header saved by Justham but Dagenham pulled a goal back in stoppage time with Junior Morias firing home after Wrexham failed to clear their lines.

Justham pulled off a brilliant save to deny Elliot Lee and then clawed the ball away from Sam Dalby as Wrexham responded but victory was already in the bag.
