THE Welsh League Cup will provide the curtain call for the 2022/23 season.

The first round ties of the competition, that was won by Connah’s Quay Nomads last season, will officially kick off the new campaign on July 23.

The 32 clubs from Cymru North and South will be in the first round draw with Ardal League sides Caersws and Denbigh Town handed two wild cards.

The Cymru North and South seasons will start the following week before Welsh football’s top flight teams start with second round Welsh League Cup ties on August 6.

The Cymru Premier League, with The New Saints defending their title, rolls into action the following Saturday.

Fixtures for the Cymru Premier season will be released at 10am on Tuesday, June 28, while the Cymru North and South fixtures will be released at the same time the following day.

Motherwell, meanwhile, have been drawn against the winner of the tie between Bala Town and Sligo Rovers in the second qualifying round of the Europa Conference League.

The Fir Park side, who secured their latest crack at European football by finishing fifth in the cinch Premiership, will be at home in the first leg in the week of July 21, and away the following week.

Welsh side Bala will face Irish outfit Sligo in the first qualifying round earlier in July.

Bala finished second in the Cymru Premier League last term, while Sligo were third in last year’s League of Ireland Premier Division and are currently fifth midway through this year’s competition

The winners of Linfield’s Champions League tie against The New Saints next month will play Bodo/Glimt or Ballkani in the second qualifying round.

Welsh Premier League champions TNS host Irish Premiership winners Linfield in the first leg of their first qualifying round match on July 5 or 6, with the second leg in Belfast on July 12 or 13.

The winner will face either Europa League quarter-finalists Bodo/Glimt, who knocked Celtic out of Europe last season, or Kosovan champions Ballkani.

The second qualifying round first legs will be played on July 19 or 20, with the second legs scheduled for July 26 or 27.
