CHRIS ELLWOOD, Danny Williams and James Claybrook have been rewarded for fine starts to the new cricket season.

North Wales, now known as Wales National County (North), will begin a busy season away to Cumbria on May 17.

Ellwood, Williams and Claybrook have been included in the squad, which unsurprisingly contains three players from last season’s North Wales champions St Asaph.

Ellwood has been a key aspect as Gresford have opened their Premier Division tilt with back-to-back wins. He has already picked up eight wickets.

Meanwhile, Claybrook was in scintillating form as he cracked 132 not out during Brymbo’s victory over Pontblyddyn last weekend.

The Cumbria match will be played in Kendal and the visiting team is captained by St Asaph’s Will Ryan.

There’s also a spot for talented Denbigh player Harrison Jones, who experienced joy and despair over the weekend.

He struck an amazing 203 at Dolgellau, before being dismissed for a golden duck during Denbigh’s win over Abergele two days later.

Wales National County North squad: Jack Gower (Menai Bridge); James Claybrook (Brymbo); Duncan Midgley (St Asaph); Harrison Jones (Denbigh); Will Ryan (captain - St Asaph); Matt Humphreys (vice captain - Mochdre); Owen Reilly (Bangor); Sam Rimmington (Llandudno); Jack Parry (Colwyn Bay); Chris Ellwood (Gresford); Jason Foulkes (St Asaph); Danny Williams (Gresford).
