WREXHAM athletes have continued to enjoy success in the United States, with two excellent victories being achieved.

In the Spring invitational meet at Clermont, in Florida, Amy Odunaiya won the 200-metres with her time of 23.84.

Across the country in California was Thomas Walley.

He took part in the Chris Rinne twilight meeting, clearing five metres to claim victory in the pole vault.

Wrexham AAC member took part in two sprint events at the Loughborough open meeting.

He was fourth in the 200-metres (23.09) and eighth in the 100-metres (11.84).

There was a large club contingent at the Macclesfield open meeting.

In the under-11 girls' section, Bethan Roberts won the 75-metres in a personal best of 12.2 seconds and another pb of 24.8 saw her finish first in the 150-metres.

She was fourth in the 600-metres with another personal best of 2-09.7.

Turning to the U11 boys and Spencer Jones was first in the turbo javelin (16.55m), second in the 75-metres (12.6) and third in the 150-metres (26.3), with Rhys Jones crossing the line third in the 75-metres (12.7).

Annabelle Jones achieved three personal bests in the under-13 girls section - 16.3 in the 100-metres, 4-57.8 in the 1200-metres and 15.85 for the javelin, with Sophie Forgrave adding to the personal best theme with 15.1 for the 100-metres.

Turning to the under-17 women's category and here Freya Williams achieved personal bests in the 100-metres (15.0) and 200-metres (31.1), with Oliver Edwards achieving a season's best 24.5 seconds in the senior men's 200-metres.

In further action, Mike Robbins' time of 23.18 saw him cross the line 10th at the Wepre parkrun.

Gareth Chaloner (19th in 24.10) was the leading club racer at the Erddig parkrun, followed by Peter Sussex (23rd in 24.27), Michael Jones (46th in 27.39), Sion Davies (54th in 28.16), Alan Williams (62nd in 28.55), Peter Norman (131st in 37.06) and John Tipping (168th in 45.36).

Evie Hughes finished as the runner-up in the Alyn Waters junior parkrun with her time of 9.18 and Rhys Jones was in sixth position in 10.52.

A busy weekend is in store, starting with the Mid Cheshire 5k in Kingsley on Friday (7.15pm).

The Red Kite trail race takes place at Devil's Bridge on Saturday (1pm), with Wrexham hosting the Cheshire Track and Field League meet on Sunday (11.45am).

Then, on Monday, it's the Trafford AC under-15 medal meeting at Stretford.

Next Wednesday sees the Dinas Bran hill race in Llangollen (7.15pm).
