IT was a tale of two halves as Wrexham turned things around in style to beat Weymouth 6-1 to keep their National League title hopes alive.

The Reds struggled to get going at The Bob Lucas Stadium and the second bottom Terras took the lead.

Phil Parkinson's side did have some chances which they didn't take as the first half progressed but Wrexham were at their clinical best after the break.

Wrexham found their shooting boots in the second half as they scored six goals to bounce back from Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Woking which ended the 15-game unbeaten run.

Victory against the Terras means second placed Wrexham are now only four points behind leaders Stockport County and still in contention for automatic promotion with four matches to go.

After naming the same side for the previous right games, Parkinson made two changes from the starting XI in the Woking defeat.

Both were in the wing-back position with Tyler French replacing Reece Hall-Johnson, who was named among the substitutes, on the right and Liam McAlinden taking over from Callum McFadzean on the opposite flank.

McFadzean picked up a quad injury and was substituted after just six minutes on Saturday, while there was a place on the bench for midfielder Tom O'Connor who last featured in February but has now made a full recovery from a hamstring problem.

Wrexham went straight at the hosts and had an early chance when the ball ran to French in the area but his shot was blocked.

Weymouth responded with Josh McQuoid meeting a cross but Christian Dibble did well to turn the ball behind for a corner.

Bradley Ash saw another effort blocked by Dibble but although the striker found the net with his follow-up, the goal was ruled out for offside.

Luke Young's free-kick was comfortably saved by Terras goalkeeper Ross Fitzsimons at the other end but Weymouth took advantage of poor defending to go 1-0 up in the 20th minute.

Tom Bearwich was left in space and the striker ran onto a through ball before slotting past Dibble.

Wrexham had not going but the goal seemed to spark the Reds into life.

Paul Mullin fired straight at Fitzsimons after winning the ball back and Jordan Davies only just cleared the bar from Ben Tozer's long throw-in.

Another chance arrived when James Jones laid off to McAlinden who fired off target and the wing-back also went close with a low drive.

But Weymouth had another sight of goal on the counter attack and when Wrexham struggled to clear their lines, Greenwood was thwarted by Dibble.

Wrexham went straight back on the attack and Davies' effort was parried by Fitzsimons and although the Terras managed to clear the loose ball, the visitors kept the pressure on and Mullin headed over from Aaron Hayden's cross.

Hayden, who had earlier gone down before continuing, was forced off in added time with Hall-Johnson coming on as Parkinson was forced to reshuffle his defence with French switching to a centre-back position.

It remained 1-0 to Weymouth at the break but Max Cleworth wasn't far away with a long range effort at the start of the second half.

However, Wrexham were back on level terms in the 48th minute.

And what an equaliser it was as Davies scored with a left foot beauty from outside the area which flew past Fitzsimons into the back of the net.

It got even better as the Reds took a 2-1 lead just one minute later.

McAlinden sent in a superb cross and Mullin headed home his 27th goal of the season.

Wrexham continued to press and Mullin was denied by a defender but a third goal arrived on 55 minutes.

Hall-Johnson delivered a cross and James Jones took a touch before finishing well from a tight angle.

The Reds were hungry for more goals and Davies' deflected effort fell narrowly wide but the midfielder made it 4-1 with his second of the night after 66 minutes.

The ball was played into the area, Davies brought the ball down pas his man with a superb piece of skill which was matched by a great finish.

O'Connor came on for Davies and Wrexham made it 5-1 in the 82nd minute.

McAlinden picked out Mullin who scored 28th goal of the campaign from close range.

Just two minutes later it was 6-1 as Jones fed Palmer who fired past Fitzsimons.

Jordan Ponticelli replaced Mullin and Wrexham saw the game out to secure a much needed win.
