SATURDAY was a missed opportunity but Phil Parkinson wants to ensure his side remain in a position to capitalise if title rivals Stockport County slip-up again.

Wrexham went into their game at Woking knowing that County had suffered a 2-1 defeat at Yeovil but the Reds lost by the same score and remain seven points behind the leaders with five matches to go.

Next up is tonight's clash against Weymouth at The Bob Lucas Stadium and Parkinson is not giving up on automatic promotion.

"It is a dent in our belief that we can do that; obviously we are aiming for that and we would be mad not to because it is still alive," said Parkinson.

"We have got to be mentally and physically prepared to go right to the wire.

"We have got to make sure that if Stockport slip up again, we are there ready and waiting."

An own goal gave Wrexham the lead at The Kingfield Stadium but Woking scored twice in the second half to clinch victory as the Reds' 15-game unbeaten run came to an end.

Parkinson is just focused on bouncing back with three points at second bottom Weymouth.

"You have got to take the disappointments together as a group. We have had lots of pats on the back and 'well deserved', and the majority of our play for 60 minutes was decent," he added.

"But we just went away from that. We just needed that element of coolness in our play but just didn't quite get that after 65 minutes.

"We regroup, the aim is to get going again on Tuesday.

"You take the ups and the downs, it was a disappointing day for us but we move onto Weymouth."
